Scoring, Placing, & Awards Information

At America on Stage, we believe every dancer, team, and director should be highly recognized for their excellent achievement. Accordingly, we offer the best awards program anywhere! Every dancer receives an individual award for every event competed (including team). Every team receives a team award for every event competed. Every studio receives at least one large trophy. And then at a special Awards Extravaganza at the end of every level (immediately after all scores have been tallied) we present overall awards and a fun sportsmanship and spirit awards.

We have designed our scoring, placing and awards system after this belief.

We offer three kinds of awards in our levels:

Multiple Awards
Dance NOVICE and BEGINNING &
Clog NOVICE, BEGINNING, INTERMEDIATE, ADVANCED levels

SCORING

In Dance NOVICE and BEGINNING and Clog NOVICE, BEGINNING, INTERMEDIATE, ADVANCED levels, dancers are judged against a score. Dancers are scored between 4.5 and 5.0 in two categories -
    Technical Merit and Artistic Presentation.

Dancers are then awarded a place based upon their total score from all three judges.
The Highest scoring dancer(s) in each category are scored 1st automatically, regardless of score.
PLACING
Dancers who score above 29.1 are awarded 1st place.
Dancers who score between 28.7 and 29.09 are awarded 2nd place.
Dancers who score between 27.0 and 28.69 are awarded 3rd place.
In this way, dancers earn the place they score.

Double Awards
Dance INTERMEDIATE & Clog CHAMPIONSHIP levels

SCORING

In Dance INTERMEDIATE and Clog CHAMPIONSHIP levels, dancers are eligible for both multiple awards and a HIGH GOLD RANKING.

Additional Information on Awards at America On Stage

Clogging All-Around Solos
All-Around Solos are compulsory solos that showcase dancers memory, technique, presentation, and abilities. Dancers are scored solely on how well they complete the solos. As many who score high enough in the above mentioned categories with high dance ability are awarded 1st, those with minor mistakes and/or medium dance ability are awarded 2nd and those with major mistakes or low dance ability are awarded 3rd. All dancers are placed.
