Who
qualifies for Nationals?
Open Dance Nationals, Showcase Spectacular, and
Open Clog Nationals (1st and 3rd weekends)
No qualifying is required. Any dancers may compete
at these two weekends (1st and 3rd weekends of Nationals at Lagoon).
Clog Nationals (2nd weekend)
WHO QUALIFIES: Teams who have won 1st Place in ANY competition with ANY
routine qualify all participating members of the team who have competed with the
team to compete ALL routines at Nationals. All Team members of qualifying teams
can also compete ALL duets and individual events whether they won 1st or not.
Both members of a duet must be qualified to compete at Nationals. Dancers must
qualify to compete at Nationals on teams, individuals/duets. A
dancer may not dance any teams if they and their teammates have only qualified
in individuals. If a dancer's team has won a 1st place, all participating members of that team
may compete ALL team events, and all individual and duet events regardless of
placing in other individual, duet or team category.
ALL PROFESSIONAL LEVEL DANCERS (Pro, Masters, & Challenge) automatically
qualify, whether they won 1st or not, once they are registered to compete at any
events throughout the year. Those who haven't won 1st, may compete at Open
Nationals (FIRST WEEKEND).
DUETS: Both members of a duet must
be qualified to compete at Nationals by competing and winning a 1st place or
registering in pro.
INDIVIDUALS whose teams do not qualify, but who win 1st place in ANY
category (solo, duet, a cappella) qualify to compete in EVERY category (except
team). This will allow every national qualifier to compete as much as
possible in as many events (even if they won only one 1st place in 1 category). All Dancers
who dance at Nationals must be qualified.
After qualifying at any other event, you can register and compete in the age
divisions Friday night.
How do the
age divisions and dance off qualifying work?
SIMPLE RULES
1. After qualifying at any other event, you can register and compete
in the age divisions at Nationals Friday night.
2. Once you win a 1st or 2nd place in Champ or 1st place in Advanced in ANY event, you can dance off ALL events
you competed in the age divisions for All-American honors.
You must register and pay for all events in age divisions you plan on dancing
off. (Ex. You can’t compete just freestyle in the age divisions and then dance
off freestyle, duets, solos, etc in the dance off. You must register and pay for
EVERY event in the age divisions and then you can dance them off.)
3. All dancers compete against each other in the dance off for All-Star
All-American, All-American, and Rookie honors. Duets, All-Around Solos, A
Cappella, A Cappella Duet, and Short Duet will dance off in the Pro Age
Divisions. Freestyle will have its own dance off Friday night when all is done
See detailed rules below.
4. The top dancers in each category will dance off Saturday night. The winners
from the dance off are crowned MVP National Champions. The top dancers from the
Friday night dance off in each category will be awarded All-Star All-American,
All-American, and Rookie Saturday night.
